Bible Reading Plan for 2011
We are committed to fact that the Bible is sufficient for all of life and practice.
2 Peter 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
In order for us to be able to sufficiently apply the Bible to life, we have to know it and meditate on it.
Psalm 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
A great way to begin knowing and meditating on God's Word is to read it. Our Bible Reading Plan for 2011 is a familiar division of Old and New Testament readings for each day. Our Bible Reading Plan for 2010 focused on Psalms and Proverbs. Our Bible Reading Plan for 2009 enabled the reader to read all of God's Word in one year in a chronological order. Other plans are available at websites like Heartlight.org.
Questions to ask when reading any Scriptures for the year:
- How is Christ seen in the passages for today?
- How do the passages for today fit into God's redemptive plan?
- How are the passages for today fulfilled in the gospel?
Scripture Memory Plan for 2011
As a church we will be memorizing and meditating on these Scriptures.
- January - Joshua 24:15
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
- February - Isaiah 61:1-3
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
- March - Psalm 119:89-90
For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven. Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.
- April - Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
- May - Psalm 145:3
Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.
- June - Psalm 85:6-7
Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.
- July - 1 John 5:20
And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
- August - Psalm 27:14
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
